Great Dixter - Winter Structure - Open Weekends

Winter Structure - Open Weekends at Great Dixter

Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th February 2011   = This weekend
Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th March 2011

I think this will be a great time for us to look and really understand the winter structure for our planting schemes.

From website:  http://www.greatdixter.co.uk/events.htm

Great Dixter will be open to view the in late winter. The garden is full of winter interest including snowdrops, crocuses, hellebores and much more. The garden has a beautiful structure which becomes even more apparent at this time of year. Visitors will get an insight into the preparation for opening which will be in full swing at a time when the garden has only ever been enjoyed by Christopher Lloyd and his gardening team. The nursery and giftshop will be open and fully stocked.

Open 10.00 to 16.00
Admission to the garden: £7.20
Annual Ticket holders: Free entry

Sequential sketches

Sequential sketches for - The Source

Quick sketches to show my intentions - with help of sketch up and pro marker pens
A simple quick method- but not detailed enough for final presentation- now I'm back to my dilemma- how should i render my work- pencil, pens, paints or the computer!!

Lille - Day four, five and six

Day four, five and six,,,

the two teams come together- there was a lot of talking and negotiating - what to keep what to change,,,

Chris starts on the water for the model- painstaking but worth the effort
he filled the canal with pva glue after it had been painted blue- once the glue dries clear it gives a good effect of water

Simon working on the context of the model-
his precision and organisation for the model was impressive

Andrew and Dipte make alot of trees for our green corridor

Elody and here wonderful perspectives

the signed agreement of our final concept and design-

the test plan-

As the glue starts to dry we gradually saw our canal appear

Concept diagrams, one of many ,,,,

The almost complete model-

I would like to say thank you to all the students of Lille School of Architecture for their hospitality and patients with the language barrier.  I hope that they were able to learn form us as much as we did from them.
Also a big thank you to the City of Lille and all who gave us this opportunity to design the up and coming Eco Quarter of Lille.

Well done everyone.
