the autumn/winter bones of dixter
although now the garden is closed to the public for the winter , dixter still hold great events so that you can see the garden throughout the year-
last week i helped out on the Lutyens Symposium day and in return sat in on all the lectures, is was a brilliant day- there were 60 places and tickets sold out fast- the great hall was once again full of interesting people- with the fire lit and the lights off for the presentations - it was a truley unique lecture theatre-a real treat!
after lunch fergus took groups round on a garden tour, i always go on these as i know im going to pick up on something i havnt heard him say before! as always i took lots of photos, here are a few of them,
pot display- fergus is favouring miniture conifers at the moment
maybe he will bring them back into fashion???
select seed heads are left to add to the winter skeleton
there is a lot of cotoneaster horizontalis around the garden ,
and its this time of year it starts to stand out
fergus encouraging the tour to put thier hands
in the compost heap to warm up!
and just incase you needed an update on conifer- she is doing fine-
settled in well and a very happy little lady!!
